Created in 2005, the Vancouver Public Library writer-in-residence program runs for four months each year, from September to December. During the residency, the writer devotes 75 percent of his or her time to personal creative work and 25 percent to mentoring emerging writers, conducting workshops, and participating in other activities to share their experience with the broader community.
A call for applications usually goes out in the fall of the year, with a deadline of mid January in the following year.
