On the evening of Friday, October 26, 2018, at the Annex Theatre on Seymour Street, Vancouver-based Japanese poet Soramaru Takayama presented his sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, always engaging poetry through a blend of spoken word and theatre movement. Alongside Takayama, the event featured renowned Japanese poet and Naoki Award-winning author Shoichi Nejime.

Nejime read from new work written while visiting Vancouver. Takayama performed new work in response. The performance closed with a collaboration performance from both artists, accompanied by local musician Kofu, who played the taiko drum and the shakuhachi flute.

All the performances were in Japanese language; however, English subtitles were projected during the show so that everyone in the audience could experience the full magic of the evening.
