Kate Metten
Writer-in-residence at Historic Joy Kogawa House in the Summer of 2020
Kate Metten is an interdisciplinary artist who graduated from ECUAD with a major in ceramic sculpture and oil painting. Her research is grounded within the Modernist philosophies of the Bauhaus. Metten’s work is preoccupied with the mechanics of looking, the psychological play of optical illusions, and our brain’s response to reductionist imagery confronts viewers with the conditioning of their own perception. Recent solo shows include The Thinking Eye at BAF, Old Ideas at CSA Space, and Untitled at WAAP.
Kate Metten was in residence at Historic Joy Kogawa House in Summer 2020.
