Blue Jay Walker

Blue Jay Walker

Writer-in-residence at Historic Joy Kogawa House in June 2025.

Blue Jay Walker is a versatile storyteller artist. Trained in the oral tradition and busking arts since 14, he has become adept in sharing truth through misdirection and metaphor.

He has performed his work over 500 times, entertaining the public in 25 major cities across three continents. He is the founder of Paper Rag, a monthly mail-order arts & culture publication with over 1,000 regular subscribers in 30+ countries.

A champion of the bardic tradition, in 2024 Walker wrote a record-breaking 240-foot poem on a singular scroll. He completed this project with his typewriter live on location at the historic Washington Square Park, NYC. During his itinerant years, he has amassed 400,000+ followers across social media and has written thousands of individual poems that live framed on walls, tucked in memory journals, or hidden in junk drawers across the world. He lives in his van with his pet fruit flies.

During his stay, Blue Jay was working on the latest release of Paper Rag, which can be signed up for here.
