Matt Taylor

Born and raised in Regina, Matt Taylor spent his youth playing trumpet and guitar. He was a member of Regina’s Student All-Star jazz band among many other local student music groups. Matt went to Grant MacEwan university for Jazz Guitar Performance where he studied with Canadian guitar great Jim Head. He then finished his degree at VIU in Nanaimo under the tutelage of another Great Canadian Guitarist, Pat Coleman.

Matt also obtained his degree in music education at the U of R. Matt has performed every type of music all over Canada from bars, coffee shops to the big stages as well as with the Regina symphony orchestra. He has performed with great Canadian musicians such as Cam Ryga, Chase Sanborn, John Capon, among others.

Matt is a jazz guitarist at heart but he is an extremely versatile player that is comfortable in any musical situation and comfortable playing any style. Matt has also taught private lessons and clinics throughout Canada and currently resides in Regina where he teaches music, is a director at school of rock and is actively performing in multiple groups.
