
Mizuki Misumi

Born in Kagoshima, Japan, Mizuki Misumi is an award-winning poet known for her performances and published collections as well as albums of music. She received the Gendaishi Techo (Modern Poetry Notebook) award in 2004; the tenth Chuya Nakahara prize for her poetry book Overkill, translated by Juliet Winters Carpenter; and the Rekitei prize for young poets for her subsequent collection, which was also honoured by the Southern Japan literature award.
Japanese poet Mizuki Misumi was hosted at Historic Joy Kogawa House in partnership with Tasai Artists’ Collective. Misumi collaborated in Vancouver with Japanese poet Soramaru Takayama as part of the Japanese Poets North of the 49th (JPN North of 49) project.
