Call for Applications

Writers are encouraged to apply for an immediate opportunity at Historic Joy Kogawa House.

This one-month residency runs October 1 to 31, 2021, and makes available to professional writers an inspiring space for research and creation of a work-in-progress or other writing project.

During this residency, the candidate writer would have full use of the historic house at no cost.

In exchange, requirements would be to:

  1. host one public community-engagement event related to their work, perhaps a master class or literary event
  2. join our weekly writing group which meets Wednesday evenings to write together using the Pomodoro method

Interested writers should contact Ann-Marie Metten directly at with an expression of interest, including a description of their current writing project and a proposal for their community-engagement event.

Due to the short notice for this residency, we are waiving the usual $50 application fee.

Deadline for expressions of interest is Thursday, September 23, 12pm Midnight PDT.

We look forward to hearing from you!
