Welcoming Eden Robinson as Our September Writer-in-Residence
We are delighted to announce that Eden Robinson, one of Canada’s most acclaimed Indigenous authors, is joining us as our Writer-in-Residence this September at Historic Joy Kogawa House.
Known for her evocative novels like Monkey Beach and the Trickster trilogy, Eden brings a unique blend of West Coast Indigeneity and gothic fiction to her storytelling.
During her residency, Eden will be working on her novel-in-progress, The Observers of the Setting Sun. Don’t miss her public reading at the Word Vancouver Festival on September 28 at UBC Robson Square. Join us in welcoming Eden and celebrating her extraordinary contributions to Canadian literature!

We are excited to invite you to the rescheduled launch of Warp and Weft, a beautiful chapbook by Carla Stein, published by Tiger Petal Press. The event will feature a reading from Carla Stein, followed by a demonstration and discussion led by Carolin Peterson on the art of creating handmade chapbooks at Tiger Petal Press.
Carla Stein’s poetry and illustrations have been widely published, with her work appearing in esteemed collections such as Sustenance (Anvil Press), Stonecoast Review, and Quills Canadian Poetry Magazine. Her chapbook Warp and Weft was released in March 2024, and her debut poetry collection Zero Hour followed in May 2024. As an associate member of the League of Canadian Poets and a former artistic director of the Wordstorm Society of the Arts, Carla brings a wealth of experience and creativity to her work.
