New Writer-in-Residence: Holly Timpener

Holly Timpener is a non-binary performance artist exploring Queer trauma, resistance, and identity. Through performance, they address gender, intimacy, trauma, and the body, while engaging with themes of trust, power, control, and consent.

Their work involves both personal reflection and stories from within the Queer community, using performance to process and respond to shared experiences.

Currently, Timpener is investigating the relationship between internal transformation and non-binary identities through durational performance art. They seek to create accessible language around these transformations and believe that queer resistance emerges through performative action.

During their residency at Historic Joy Kogawa House, Holly will lead the Challenging Our Place in the World workshop, helping participants create individualized performances rooted in personal transformation.

This workshop engages with participants to create an individualized performance and writing language stemming from internal transformations felt within a performance workshop.
