Welcoming Our January Writer-in-Residence: Trevor Copp

We are delighted to announce Trevor Copp as our January Writer-in-Residence! Trevor is a multi-talented Canadian actor, dancer, director, playwright, and mime. As the founder and artistic director of Tottering Biped Theatre, Trevor has received accolades such as the Ontario Presenters Artist of the Year, a Paula Award, and a Chalmer’s Fellowship Award.

His work has been featured in the Canadian Theatre Review, TED.com, CBC, and Dance International, among others.

During his residency from January 3 to 27, 2025, Trevor will focus on his latest project, Split Infinity. This work delves into Queer identity, intercultural relationships, physics, mental health, and free will, marking an exciting evolution in his creative journey.

Join us for a captivating poetry reading that celebrates Vancouver’s rich tradition of poets intertwined with visual art. This event features four extraordinary writers spanning three generations, each with unique perspectives on the relationship between literature and fine arts:

  • Aaron Peck – Author of Jeff Wall: North & West and contributor to the Times Literary Supplement and Aperture magazine.
  • Colin Browne – Poet and author of Here (2020) and Entering Time (2016), currently working on a book about the Surrealists’ journeys to the Northwest Coast.
  • Steff Huì Cí Ling 林惠慈 – Cultural worker and author of NASCAR (2016) and 百姓 A Hundred Surnames (2024).
  • Tiziana La Melia – Artist and writer, author of lettuce lettuce please go bad (2024) and The Eyelash and the Monochrome (2018).
