Welcome to the new website for Historic Joy Kogawa House!
After about a month of redevelopment, we’re proud to unveil this new website, with the promise of more features to come. We’re launching a revitalized website to coincide with our open call for applications to our 2016 residencies program. Preliminary applications are due Monday, February 1, so we encourage you to spread the word about this opportunity or to start preparing your own residency application.
There is much to see already on this website. You can learn about the house and about Joy Kogawa. You can read about our tours of the house and you can request a tour using our new online system. You can support our vital work by making a donation or becoming a member. You can even apply for our residencies program via the online submission management system Submittable.
This is only Stage 1 of our website redevelopment. Stage 2 will bring further features, including an online gallery of images of activities at the house, as well as more enhancements to the look and feel of the site. To learn when Stage 2 is ready and to keep in touch with us about our events and programs, simply subscribe to our eNews list.
Thanks for your interest and we’ll see you at the next stage!
The featured image is a detail from a fabric-art version of the picture book Naomi’s Tree, written by Joy Kogawa and illustrated by Ruth Ohi. The book was recreated in fabric (discarded kimonos and other articles of clothing) by the Nuno Ehon Suginoko workshop, a group of women artists in Fukuoka, Japan.
